Hello Mahesh,

Download drivers for NVIDIA products including GeForce graphics cards, nForce motherboards, Quadro workstations, and more. Update your graphics card drivers today. Jun 05, 2015  Not sure if this is the right driver or software for your component? Run Intel® Driver & Support Assistant to automatically detect driver or software updates. This driver package contains the Intel® HD Graphics Driver version 15.28. (9.) for Windows. 7 and Windows 8.

Thanks for responding to my question.

My responses follow. After many months I have finally found the solution (at least the solution I have applied has resulted in the error code disappearing).

I found the following information very helpful - http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/archive/839546.

quote from link - 'Looks like you've tried most of the things that normally resolve this issue, but one other thing you can try is setting static DNS on your wireless adapter. It sounds like your router is probably not handling DNS properly (seems to be a common issue with that particular model).'

I am now using the DNS server addresses from my ISP (though I also tried the solution proposed in the link - that also worked effectively). This is a bit of a pain because every adapter in use (including the LAN adapter as I discovered) must be modified. I haven't tried connecting the PC to another router using the 'non-automatic' settings - maybe this will need to be changed back to automatic if the physical connection changes.

I think that it is time for me to get a replacement router - any suggestions? - I don't ever want this problem again.

I have had this problem on an older windows machine for a couple of years. I honestly have been through hundreds of google searches (and spent many many hours applying the proposed solutions - to no avail) and hadn't found this one until yesterday. Your suggestion that the router may be part of the problem led me to include the router model in the search criteria.

I hope that this may be helpful to others.

Again, thanks for your time.

Referring to your comments / suggestions (edited) ->

1. What is the make and model of the router?

Netcomm NB5Plus4W

2. Are you using any proxy to connect to the Internet?

No

Step1:

I would suggest you to reset your home router to which the computer is connected to the Internet and check the issue.

- complete. The error code 8024402c persists.

Step 2:

If you are using any proxy to connect to the Internet, then I would suggest you to turn off.

- not required (no proxy).

Step 3:

Fix Problems and Update Drivers for Windows 7

Drivers are not only device specific, they are also Operating System specific. This means that if you change or update your Operating System, you must also update your software Drivers.

Even if you do not make any changes to your system, Drivers are regularly updated so it is important to ensure that your PC has all the latest updates.

Windows 7 64 Ultimate

You can do this automatically by downloading a Driver Update Tool, or to troubleshoot the Windows 7 drivers problem yourself. The article below will go through both options.

Compatibility
Download Windows 7 Driver Update ToolWindows 10, Windows 8, Windows 7, Vista, XP

This article will help you if you are experiencing any of the following problems with a PC running Windows 7:

  • slowdown in your PC’s performance
  • peripheral devices such as printers and scanners either not working or not working as expected
  • peripheral devices ‘hanging’ or intermittently shutting down and restarting
  • You get an error message when trying to use one of your devices (this could be sound, video, bluetooth, printer etc.)

If you are experiencing any of the above problems in Windows 7, or indeed any other Windows Operating System, then your first step should be to use the built-in and free Driver Verifier tool.

Repair

To access Driver Verifier you will need to :

  • browse to the System32 folder
  • open up the Driver Verifier program or access it via the command line by typing verifier.exe into the Run box
  • Ensure all programs are closed before doing this as you will be asked to do a restart once you launch the Driver Verifier.

If the Driver verifier has identified particular driver problems, then you can attempt to fix these driver problems by reinstalling the drivers if you still have access to them (they could also be available from the manufacturers website).
